The Jennifer Project
Now available for pre-order on Amazon!
In 2096, Deever MacClendon creates Jennifer, the first proto-conscious cybernetic processor. It is hyper-intelligent, aware, and evolving. Deever wants to use his creation for the good of all, to help fix a broken world, but knowing what a powerful weapon it could be in the wrong hands, he hides it. When his secret is uncovered, he is forced to plunge into a high-tech morass of deception and treachery to avoid catastrophe and save a world where humans are no longer the most intelligent species.
Where did the idea for this book come from?
I wanted to explore what it would be like if humans were not the most intelligent creatures on Earth. That more intelligent creature would tell the story from its point of view. That idea became Jennifer, a proto-conscious cybernetic processor, a force for good, yet powerful enough to destroy us.
What draws you to this genre?
Science fiction is about the future, and the future fascinates me. Individuals also fascinate me. These two interests fit perfectly in a genre in which I can tell stories about unusual people in futuristic settings and speculate on technologies that could determine our fate.
What inspired the cover?
Jennifer is an intelligent device created by Deever MacClendon from an exotic element, nanochips, and the imprinted brain image of his girlfriend, Jennifer Crane. The digitally rendered face on the cover is how he imagines his creation would look: beautiful and kind, yet powerful and dangerous.

The Black Tempest
Here's the great news from my friend, Ryan Dalton:
Hey, book fans! It seems like just yesterday that I was sharing the cover and synopsis for my debut novel The Year of Lightning. Now here we are, and I’m so excited to share a first glimpse of the sequel, The Black Tempest.
Below, you’ll find the first reveal of the brand new cover, the book synopsis that will appear on the back cover, along with a super cool giveaway contest at the bottom.
BOOK JACKET
It’s summer in Emmett’s Bluff, and the ice is spreading. Six months after confronting an enemy from the future, Malcolm and Valentine Gilbert have returned to their normal teenage lives. Or, they’ve tried to. During the battle to save their town, a mysterious force awoke inside the twins. Time calls to them, and it’s growing too strong to be ignored.
When warriors from a mysterious ancient kingdom appear, they bring warnings of an unstoppable foe—one whose control of the ice is powered by Time itself. But ice is far more than the Black Tempest’s signature. As the twins uncover the truth behind it, they realize their town is only the beginning. If the Black Tempest is not stopped here, his corruption will threaten the very course of history.
As cold advances and doom draws near, the twins’ only hope lies in learning to wield Time itself, and in trusting their strange new friends—even if those friends have secrets of their own.
Official release date is January 10, 2017, so mark your calendars! And now for the giveaway contest . . .
The Black Tempest is now on Goodreads. Follow the link here: https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/29502081-the-black-tempest
This giveaway can actually turn into multiple giveaways! To enter, simply follow the above link and click “Want to Read.” This will add the book to your To-Read bookshelf. For every 200 want-to-reads, I will give away 1 e-ARC (advance reader copy) of The Black Tempest. So the more people that add the book to their shelves, the more advance copies will be given away.

If we were not the most intelligent species

A 5,000 word sample of my new scifi thriller, "The Jennifer Project," is now up on the Kindle Scout site for voting. Please take a moment to check it out and if you think it's worthy, please nominate it to be published by the Kindle Press (by clicking the blue "Nominate Me" button on the following link). You can only nominate once, the voting goes for 30 days, and if it is selected you will receive a free Kindle copy of the book. This is an opportunity for me to reach a wider audience, but I need your help.
